Back in September last year, Sarawak trialed the trackless tram known as the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) smart tram. Now, Putrajaya has announced that it will be doing the same, with its trial starting on 1 February in conjunction with the Putrajaya Open Day.
The announcement was made via the Putrajaya Corporation on its Facebook page. The post notes that as part of the trial, members of the public will be able to ride the ART smart tram for free until 4 February, which is when the open day ends. As for the trial itself, it will continue until December 2024.
The post doesn’t go into much detail as to what the smart tram trial would entail. Beyond the four days of free rides, there’s no mention as to what the route of the ART smart tram in Putrajaya will be. In the same vein, there’s no mention of what its route will be like, or if there will be more than one.
For members of the public who wants to give it a try, the post does note that its main stop is at the Putrajaya Corporation Complex. Beyond that, we’ll have to wait for the governing body to share more, which will probably happen as part of said open day.
