OnePlus has announced its new OnePlus 12 flagship smartphone series and alongside this, it also unveiled the OnePlus Buds 3. The latest pair of earbuds from the brand lack the Pro moniker but brings many of the premium features seen in Buds Pro 2 and then some, at a significantly lower price.
The OnePlus Buds 3 sport 10.4mm woofers and 6mm tweeters, as well as support for LHDC 5.0 Bluetooth codec for hi-res audio and spatial audio. On the software side, the earbuds offer Audio ID 2.0, which scans your ear to create a customised audio profile. One major upgrade is that the stems now allow users to adjust the volume, a feature that was lacking in the Pro 2.
Despite being notably cheaper, the OnePlus Buds 3 still offer adaptive noise cancellation that can tune out ambient noise up to 49dB. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the IP55-rated earbuds are compatible with Google Fast Pair and supports Dual Connection.
As for the battery life, they can last 10 hours on a single charge without ANC but that estimate drops down to 6.5 hours when ANC is turned on. When combined with the charging case, the earbuds can provide a total listening time of up to 44 hours with ANC disabled.
The OnePlus Buds 3 retail for US$99 (~RM469), significantly lower than the price of the Buds Pro 2 despite being an upgrade in almost every way except for the lack of wireless charging. Interestingly, while the company has yet to announce the availability of this product in Malaysia, the earbuds share the same “E509A” model number as the OPPO Enco X3i, an unannounced pair of earbuds spotted on the SIRIM database last month. This potentially means that the new OnePlus earbuds might be rebadged with the OPPO logo for the local market.
