CelcomDigi today has announced a new partnership with Yinson GreenTech, introducing a new yet accessible way for Malaysians to own an electric vehicle – more specifically, an e-bike by rydeEV. The approach in question works similarly to how consumers are able to lease-to-own a smartphone via a postpaid subscription, which also involves committing to monthly payments throughout a contract duration.
In CelcomDigi’s case, customers can now lease-to-own on of two rydeEV e-bikes by signing up to any of its unified Postpaid 5G offerings and its Easy360 instalment plan. Through this, subscribers can bring home the entry-level Ryder model at RM299 per month, or the Hyper model at RM430 per month, throughout a duration of 36 months.
The telco adds that existing benefits offered by its Easy360 instalment plan such RM0 upfront for eligible customers, 0% interest, and RM10 postpaid plan rebates for 36 months will also apply. On top of these, new EV-related benefits are also included in the mix, including unlimited battery swaps at appointed battery stations within Klang Valley, road tax and insurance coverage, as well as e-bike maintenance (except tyres). CelcomDigi adds that once customers have concluded the 36-month contract, they are given the option to wholly own the e-bike for just RM1.
Moreover, customers who qualify for the government’s Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Scheme (MARiiCas) incentive are also eligible for a RM2,400 rebate on their e-bike purchase, in the form of a RM200 monthly return over a period of 12 months. Combined with CelcomDigi’s instalment plan, the total cost of ownership would drop as low as RM169 per month for the first year if they’re opting for the entry-level Ryder model. To check your eligibility, visit the incentive’s official page by clicking this link.
Last but not least, CelcomDigi also revealed that early bird customers signing up for this plan will receive a FREE limited-edition helmet while stocks last. The helmet will be received upon collection or delivery of the e-bike.
As for the bikes themselves, the rydeEV Ryder has a top speed 65km/h and is only available in a red colourway, while the Hyper model offers a higher top speed of 90km/h and comes in red, blue and orange colours. Both models have an average riding range of 70 – 75km when fully charged, at the riding speed of 45km/h and depending on riding behaviour and load. rydeEV bikes uses Oyika exchangeable batteries, and riders can utilise the latter’s mobile application to track its many battery swapping locations throughout the Klang Valley as well as Johor Bahru.
Those interested can sign up for the rydeEV Electric Bike with Easy360 instalment plan in six stores throughout Klang Valley, with plans to expand availability to more locations within the region in the upcoming months.
