OPPO today has announced a collaboration with superapp operator Grab, introducing new e-hailing experiences to the former’s smartphones through the latest ColorOS 14 interface. As you may recall, the partnership between the two was originally hinted at last December, as part of a teaser for the then-upcoming Reno11 series in Malaysia.
The OPPO and Grab collaboration utilises ColorOS 14’s Aqua Dynamics feature, which provides a floating widget for a corresponding app that will remain on-screen whenever a real-time activity, such as deliveries and so on, is ongoing. This particular tool provides interaction and real-time information without needing the user to open supported apps in fullscreen.
In fact, Grab’s Aqua Dynamics integration works more or less like its Live Activities counterpart on iOS, where a graphic of a vehicle moving on a line towards the user’s location is displayed on-screen while a delivery or pickup is underway. Key information such as vehicle details, estimated pick-up time, estimated arrival time, and estimated journey time are also shown here.
Alongside this, OPPO and Grab also introduced a new smart service card for ColorOS’s Shelf feature. This is designed to deliver tailored recommendations for both ride hailing and food delivery to the user.
Grab’s new Aqua Dynamics and Shelf integration is now readily available on ColorOS 14 equipped devices such as the newly launched Reno11 series. The brand’s latest Android interface is expected to arrive on other OPPO devices such as the flagship Find X series, midrange A series, older Reno series, and more later this year.
