Samsung has officially unveiled its newest flagship lineup for 2024, the Galaxy S24 series. As expected, the lineup is made up of the standard S24 along with the S24+ and S24 Ultra. This year, only the Ultra gets a Qualcomm chip while its lower-end siblings use the company’s in-house Exynos chip.
Starting off with the cream of the crop, the Galaxy S24 Ultra looks to be quite similar to its predecessor with a design that seems to be practically identical to the S23 Ultra, but this time, it has a titanium frame. For the display, it sports a 6.8-inch 1440p AMOLED panel with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a higher peak brightness of 2,600 nits.
The S24 Ultra runs on the custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset while the S24 and S24+ sport the Exynos 2400 SoC. All three devices are equipped with Galaxy AI, the brand’s built-in AI model for its mobile devices that has features such as Live Translate and Chat Assist. As for protection, the S24 series has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, but it seems that only the Ultra is enhanced with Corning Gorilla Armor.
On the photography side, the Ultra gets the same 200MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, but the second 10MP periscope lens with 10x zoom has been replaced with a new 5x optical zoom lens paired with a bigger 50MP sensor. On the front side, all three smartphones house a 12MP selfie snapper.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ offer a 1080p 6.2-inch AMOLED display and a 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display respectively, both with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Imaging-wise, the devices get the same setup as last year with a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide.
Powering the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a standard 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging. On the other hand, the S24+ uses a 4,900mAh cell with 45W wired charging while the vanilla S24 holds a significantly smaller 4,000mAh capacity with a charging speed of 25W. The entire lineup also supports 15W wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 has a starting price of RM4,099 for the base 8GB+256GB model and the 8GB+512GB variant costs RM4,599. As for the S24+, the 12GB+256GB configuration gets a price tag of RM4,899 while the 12GB+512GB model costs RM5,399. Finally, the S24 Ultra is priced at RM6,299 for 12GB+256GB, RM6,799 for 12GB+512GB, and RM7,799 for 12GB+1TB.
