Xiaomi today has officially launched the new Redmi Note 13 smartphone series for the local market. Unlike its launch in China last September, a total of four variants are offered in Malaysia: Note 13 4G, Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro, and Note 13 Pro+.
Starting with the standard Redmi Note 13 models, both variants mainly differ in terms of chipset, certain features, memory configurations and rear panel designs, while everything else are pretty much the same. For starters, the two sport a flat 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2400 x 1080 px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1800 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Also onboard are loudspeakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C connector, and an IP54 water and dust resistance rating. As for security, keep in mind that the 4G Note 13 features an in-display fingerprint scanner while the 5G version has a side-mounted one instead.
The 4G-only version packs a Snapdragon 685 chipset, while the 5G-enabled model comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC. The fomer feature up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage, while the latter is only available in a single 8GB + 256GB configuration. Regardless of which, both standard Redmi Note 13 models is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging support, while other features include Android 13 via MIUI 14, as well as dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.3. Unfortunately, only the 5G version has NFC connectivity.
As for photography, the standard Redmi Note 13 features a dual camera setup on its back which consists of a 108MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. Meanwhile, situated in the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 16MP selfie camera.
Next we have the Redmi Note 13 Pro, which shares the same display size as the starter variant but offers a higher resolution of 2712 x 1220 px, along with 120Hz refresh rate, 1800 nits peak brightness, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Apart from that, the phone also comes with stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and an IP68 water/dust resistance rating.
On the inside, this variant comes with the new 5G-capable Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset with a single memory configuration consisting of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It also comes with a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery with 67W fast charging, Android 13 via MIUI 14, as well as dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC wireless connectivity.
For photography, the Pro offers a Samsung ISOCELL 200MP-powered primary camera with OIS, paired together with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro sensor. Its front-facing camera, on the other hand, uses the same 16MP sensor as the non-Pro variant.
Last but not least, we have the high-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ model, which features a curved 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 1220 x 2712 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1800 nits peak brightness, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Also onboard are stereo speakers and a USB-C port, but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, it has a water and dust resistance rating of IP68.
Internally, the Pro+ packs a 5G-enabled MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra SoC, along with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. It has a battery capacity of 5,000mAh with 120W fast charging support, Android 13 via MIUI 14, as well as dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC wireless connectivity.
Imaging-wise, this variant offers the same setup as the Pro model, which comprises a Samsung ISOCELL 200MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. Like its siblings, housed within the top-centred cutout on its display is a 16MP selfie camera.
The Note 13 4G starts from RM749, the 5G version at RM1,099, the Pro at RM1,399, while the high-end Note 13 Pro+ starts from RM1,599. The all-new series are set to be available for purchase in Malaysia from 20 January 2024 onwards via authorised Xiaomi stores as well as its official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
