Apple may soon be bringing one of its smart speakers into the Malaysian market soon, specifically the HomePod Mini. So far, the company has yet to bring any of the HomePod lineup here, but that may change soon as the Mini has been spotted on the SIRIM database.
According to a screenshot by Amanz, the HomePod Mini was listed on 11 January 2024 with the model number A2374. The listing has since been removed from the database, but this confirms the claim by Xavier Naxa that the smart speaker is set to make its local debut. Apple is expected to launch its first official store in Malaysia soon at The Exchange TRX, so it’s possible that the tech giant might offer up the mini speaker at the same time.
The HomePod Mini was introduced way back in October of 2020, featuring a 360-degree sound field and far-field microphone design for enhancing the use of Siri. It also supports stereo pairing, AirPlay, and an Ultra Wideband chip for device proximity. It runs on the S5 chip and it’s even equipped with temperature and humidity sensors.
The Mini is offered in five colour options but it’s unknown how many colours will be made available here. As for pricing, the smart speaker retails for US$99 (~RM460), so it’s possible that we could see a price tag of under RM500 for the Malaysian version.
