An alleged “version 2” of Sony’s DualSense wireless controller for its PlayStation 5 video game console (and other supported platforms) have appeared on Canada’s Best Buy online shopping website. So far, no announcement of such a device has been made by the Japanese tech giant, though it is uncommon for it to introduce updated versions of its existing products.
According to the Best Buy listing, the alleged V2 model of the DualSense controller appears no different from the original. However, it is touted to offer double the battery life, with up to 12-hours of usage. For comparison, the initial version can go up to six hours on a single charge. Which isn’t entirely bad, but a couple more hours more without needing to plug in your controller is a quality-of-life update that’s much appreciated nonetheless.
Everything else, such as the built-in microphone, haptic triggers, headphone jack, touchpad, buttons and so on, are unchanged. The listing also mentions an included charging station that offers “easy click-in” charging. It is unclear whether this accessory is similar to the existing DualSense docks, but it is interesting to know that one will be included as part of the package. Well, provided that Best Buy is to be believed.
Speaking of which, the listing itself has been removed from the Canadian e-commerce site not long after sightings of the controller were reported by several news outlets. However, you can still view a snapshot of the page via WaybackMachine as well as screenshots of it taken by the aforementioned publications.
As for pricing, Best Buy had listed the DualSense V2 at C$89.99 (~RM312), which is basically the same price as the original version (locally at RM308). Again, it is uncertain whether the information provided by the website can be trusted since Sony itself has yet to confirm whether it is planning to release an updated version of its current-generation controller.
