MEASAT Global Berhad (MEASAT) has officially entered into an agreement with Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) to become the Authorised Reseller for Starlink Hardware and Services in the regions served by the local satellite solutions provider. The formalisation of this agreement took place in December 2023.
By attaining the Authorised Reseller status, MEASAT strengthens its role as a comprehensive service provider for customers seeking satellite services and solutions tailored to their specific requirements. Simultaneously, Starlink stands to benefit from MEASAT’s well-established market presence and robust on-the-ground customer service and technical support, which includes a 24/7 helpdesk managed by local personnel and onsite support and maintenance.
“We have always been open to working with other entities to deliver the benefits of satellite technology to our customers which include government agencies, commercial enterprises and rural residents via a diverse portfolio of solutions to meet evolving needs. For example, by infusing Starlink’s capabilities into MEASAT’s CONNECTme NOW satellite broadband service, we are able to further enhance high-speed Internet services for the last 3% of Malaysians lacking terrestrial connections,” said MEASAT CCO Ganendra Selvaraj.
The local satellite solutions provider added that this will also expand its capacity to offer fit-for-purpose, high-availability services for MEASAT’s client base in the Oil & Gas, Maritime and Enterprise sectors. Starlink products will also benefit from MEASAT’s end-to-end inclusive packages for last mile logistics and installation services, as well as repair and maintenance.
On a related note, local broadband provider Redtone was also officialised as an authorised reseller for Starlink back in November last year. However, this particular partnership is more focused on delivering the latter’s satellite services to government and enterprise customers rather than average users.
