HP has officially announced the OMEN Transcend 14, a smaller entry to its thin and light gaming laptop series, following the release of the 16-inch version last year. The company even touted this newer model to be the world’s coolest and lightest 14-inch gaming laptop yet, featuring an advanced OLED display, a slim body and, of course, high-end internals to accommodate your gaming and productivity needs.
For starters, the HP OMEN Transcend 14 boasts an IMAX Enhanced certified 14-inch OLED display with 2.8K resolution and 120Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). It also comes with HyperX tuned dual speakers with DTS:X and HP Audio Boost enhancements, integrated dual array digital microphones, a lattice-less sky printed RGB keyboard, precision touchpad, and a HP True Vision 1080p FHD IR webcam.
The front profile of the laptop measures at 12.32 x 9.19 x 0.67 inches, while its rear is at 12.32 x 9.19 x 0.71 inches. Weight-wise, official specifications list it to be at around 1,637g.
As for I/O, featured onboard the OMEN Transcend 14 is a Thunderbolt 4 with 40Gbps USB Type-C (USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4), a 10Gbps USB Type-C (USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4), a 10Gbps USB Type-A, a 10Gbps USB Type-A, a HDMI 2.1, and a headphone/microphone combo. In terms of wireless technology, included is up to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
Under the hood, the HP OMEN Transcend 14 packs with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs, up to 32GB RAM, and up to 2TB PCIe NVMe TLC M.21 SSD. For cooling, the laptop offers a redesigned chassis that utilises inbound airflow to create a pressurised zone using a vapour chamber for direct heat dissipation through rear vents. Battery-wise, HP claims that the device is capable of lasting up to 11.5 hours on a single charge, while an included Type-C PD 140W adapter enables for quick yet sufficient top-ups.
Other features include built-in AI with Otter.ai for features like live transcript and real-time captions during meetings or classes, a record function for transcribing audio, and AI-generated notes. By default, the laptop comes with Windows 11 Home and can be upgraded to a higher tier for an added fee.
The new OMEN Transcend 14 is available now in the US at a starting price of US$1,500 (~RM6,962), and is offered in two colour options: Ceramic White and Shadow Black. Unfortunately, the company has yet to announce the pricing details and availability of the laptop for the Malaysian market.
