Rapid KL has announced that the repairs for certain stations on the Sri Petaling LRT line will finally be finished by the end of February 2024. According to its post, the route from Masjid Jamek to Bandaraya will resume normal operations on 29 February, assuming the repairs pass its tests and get approval from authorities.
To refresh your memory on this saga, the Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT lines saw a major disruption to its service due to structural damage being discovered on the track near the Bandaraya station. This led to the service for three stations — namely Bandaraya, Masjid Jamek, and Plaza Rakyat — being altered for the safety of passengers while repairs were being conducted.

The alternative service required passengers heading towards Sentul Timur to get down at Hang Tuah and switch to a shuttle train with a lower frequency to travel between this stretch of affected stations. Of course, this prolonged the journey for those who needed to switch to the Kelana Jaya line via Masjid Jamek.
In February of 2023, transport minister Anthony Loke revealed that the comprehensive repairs to the track and its surrounding structures will take eight months to complete. However, to the dismay of many Klang Valley commuters, operator Rapid Rail announced back in September that the repair completion window was being extended to February of 2024 as they detected other damages in nearby viaduct structures.
