The vivo X100 and its Pro variant was first revealed back in November of last year, with its launch in its home market of China. A month later, the phones would appear in the SIRIM database, with the brand finally confirming its local launch to be happening in two teasers. Now, it has finally happened, with the phones’ local prices also being announced.
In case you missed it, the vivo X100 and its Pro model have a few things in common on their respective spec sheets. These are the 6.78-inch screen with its resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 and refresh rate of up to 120Hz, its MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset, and an IP68 rating.
Their respective batteries are a little different, with the base model being rated at 5,000mAh with a charging rate of 120W. On the other hand, the Pro model comes with a capacity of 5,400mAh, but a charging rate that goes up to 100W. Compensating for this is its wireless charging capabilities, which goes up to 50W.
On to their cameras, the vivo X100 comes with a triple camera system consisting of a 50MP main + 64MP telephoto + 50MP wide-angle shooters. As for the Pro model, this instead has a 50MP main camera with a one-inch sensor, a 50MP ZEISS APO camera and a 50 wide-angle camera. In front, both share a 32MP shooter in a punch hole cutout.
Another way the Pro model stands out from the regular vivo X100 is via a feature that allows you to take pictures of the sun. We did manage to give this feature a run, and it does work for the most part, with some algorithmic photography magic working behind the scenes.
Unlike in its home market, the number of variants for the vivo X100 and X100 Pro locally has been kept to a minimum. Both only come in a 16GB + 512GB configurations, and they are priced at RM3,499 and RM4,599 respectively. As for availability, you’ll be able to get your own starting 6 January. In the meantime, you can find out more about each model by visiting their respective official product pages linked above.
