Samsung’s latest entry-level smartphones, namely the Galaxy A15 series and the Galaxy A25 5G, have already appeared on the brand’s official Malaysia website. Prior to this, listings of all three devices were recently discovered in SIRIM’s eCoMm database, which already hinted of their imminent arrival for the local market.
Samsung has yet to disclose the pricing or availability for the Galaxy A15, Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A25 5G in Malaysia. However, we now have the official specifications for each device thanks to their listings on the website.
Starting with the Galaxy A15, the phone is revealed to sport a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 px resolution and 16M colour depth. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.56mm headphone jack, an octa-core 2.2GHz/2GHz chipset with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, expandable storage support up to 1TB via microSD, NFC support, dual-band WiFi support and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging via USB-C.
For imaging, the phone comes with a triple camera setup on its back which consists of a 50MP primary, 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro. Meanwhile, housed within the water-drop notch on its display is a 13MP selfie shooter.
Next is the Galaxy A15 5G, which shares some similarities with its siblings, but with some notable differences. The 6.5-inch display on this particular model supports a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz, while its chipset is an unspecified octa-core processor with 2.2GHz/2GHz clock speeds and 5G support. According to the official listing, the rest of the phone’s specifications, features and imaging capabilities are the same as the vanilla Galaxy A15.
Last but not least is the upper entry-level model, the Galaxy A25 5G. This handset is revealed to sport a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 16M colour depth. Like the A15 series, it too comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack, while under its hood is a unspecified 2.4GHz/2GHz octa-core chipset with 5G support, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, up to 1TB expandable memory support via microSD, NFC support, dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support via USB-C.
On the back of the phone is a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. In front, housed within the water-drop notch on its display is a 13MP selfie camera.
Seeing that all three smartphones have already been listed, it is possible that an official announcement from Samsung is expected soon. Whether or not it will arrive within the last week of the year or in January remains to be seen.
