Alongside the announcement of the 90 GT, HONOR has just recently released the new mid-range tablet. Though it is not on par with any of its more recent high-end competitors, the HONOR Tablet 9 is meant to be a supplementary device, as it was designed with multimedia consumption and creation in mind.
The device has two versions: the standard version and the “Soft Light” version. Both tablets are made of an all-metal body that measures 6.96mm thin and weighs 555g for the standard and 559g for the Soft Light version.
The Tablet 9 has a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, stylus support, two microphones, and eight surround sound speakers, making it a great-all around entertainment device. However, the main key feature of the tablet is the display, which sports a 12.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2560x1600px and a brightness of 500 nits. Additionally, the display has anti-glare glass etching, which eliminates up to 98% of reflections. The display has also received certifications from the Winning Bidding Institute for visual comfort and clearance from TÜV Rheinland for non-reflection, low blue light, and being flicker-free.
You have the option of purchasing the standard version of the HONOR Tablet 9 or its “Soft Light” version. The latter of which features a paper-like screen protector that makes writing with a stylus more enjoyable and maybe even natural to some.
Powering the device is a substantial 8.300mAh battery and 35W charging. And what gives this tablet the added juice to perform is its Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, letting it keep up with a hefty amount of workload. It will also be running on HONOR’s own MagicOS 7.2, based on Android 13.
The HONOR Tablet 9 is on sale today and is available in White, Blue and Gray. Prices start at CNY1,599 (~RM1,037), the 8/256GB model is CNY1,699 (~RM1101), the 12GB + 256GB is CNY1,999 (~RM1,296), and the 12GB + 512GB is CNY2,199 (~RM1,426). It is worth noting that these prices are only for the standard model and that, according to GSMArena, quantities are in limited supply. However, according to FoneArena, the HONOR Tablet 9’s Soft Light is currently going for CNY1,899 (~RM1231) and CNY2,099 (~RM1,361), but what differentiates the two from each other has not been specified.
Additionally, while researching for this article, it was discovered that the device is known in China as the HONOR Tablet 9, but multiple sources have addressed the device as the HONOR Pad 9. Though nothing is set in stone until HONOR addresses the issue itself, there is a potential that we might see the device fly under a different name once it hits the shelves.
