Ansat Broadcast Sdn Bhd, owned by Berjaya Corporation Berhad founder Vincent Tan, has launched a new subscription-based digital entertainment platform in Malaysia known as OK Vision. It is part of the company”s collaboration with Indonesian media giant MNC Group, and was officially inaugurated today by communications minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Through its service, OK Vision aims to deliver content on its line-up of up to 35 channels via DIrect-to-Home (DTH) services. Malaysians will be able to access the platform through PT MNC Digital Entertainment using OK1000 devices that are connected to KU-Band Satellite antennas. Based on what was demonstrated last week, among the various channels offered include Suke TV, Euronews, RCTI Malaysia, RTM News, Channel News Asia, MNCTV Malaysia, and many more.
Without a doubt, Ansat Broadcast and MNC Group’s new platform is intended to be a direct competitor to Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad’s own service, which has been one of the longest running satellite television, streaming television and IPTV provider in Malaysia. During the launch, its owner Vincent Tan said that OK Vision is well positioned to capture a share in the local digital media and entertainment market, offering a rich array of diverse and superior content choices.
Meanwhile, Fahmi Fadzil expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration between Ansat Broadcast and MNC Group, with hopes that it will open a new chapter to strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia relations. He also said that the growth of the digital media industry may lead to increased investments, both local and international as well as in technology and infrastructure.
“For Malaysia, digital media platforms are integral to our economy, contributing to revenue generation, employment, innovation, and global competitiveness,” the communications minister said. “As the digital ecosystem continues to evolve, the economic impact of digital media is likely to grow, further shaping Malaysia’s position in the global digital economy.”
