Last week, HONOR announced that it would reveal the pricing for its new X8b and X7b smartphones on 22 December, but the company seems to have jumped the gun as it has suddenly unveiled the prices of both devices. It seems the that price tags leaked by third-party retailers such as TMT were indeed accurate.
The X8b is the more affordable sibling of the X9b and sports a 6.7-inch 1080p 90Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits as well as a “Magic Capsule” that works similarly to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Underneath the chassis is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
On the back, it features a triple-camera setup using a 108MP primary unit, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor while the Magic Capsule houses a 50MP front camera and a flash. Powering the phone is a 4,500mAh battery with support for 35W charging.
Meanwhile, there’s the cheaper X7b with a 6.8-inch 1080p 90Hz LCD display with a 850-nit peak brightness and only a punch-hole camera cutout instead of the Magic Capsule. This device runs on the same SoC as its higher-end counterpart with only 256GB of storage alongside 8GB of RAM, but it includes a microSD card slot for expansion.
The rear camera setup is exactly the same as the X8b but the front shooter gets downgraded to an 8MP sensor with no flash. For the battery, it packs a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 35W charging.
The X8b will be available at RM999 while the lower-end X7b will retail for RM799, with both being available for purchase on the previous-announced date of 22 December. The purchase of either phone on its Shopee store comes with a free pair of Earbuds X5 Lite worth RM139 while stocks last.
