With the Intel Core Ultra mobile processors on the way, brands have announced ahead of time that some of their own laptops are getting a refresh featuring the new chips. Lenovo is among them, with the refresh of the brand’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 laptops.
Beyond the latest CPUs, both the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 maintain their respective identities in the market. So on the outside, you can expect both to retain their familiar look, minor tweaks notwithstanding. Which is probably where the bulk of their differences are anyway since their spec sheets have so much in common.
And on that note, the company does not specify what the available configurations are for both the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 will be. As a result, we have a lot of broad descriptions to what they will actually come equipped with. For instance, there’s the nondescript “latest Intel Core Ultra” processors, as well as “up to Intel Arc graphics” being applicable to both laptops, with their RAM and storage also noted as up to 64GB and 2TB PCIe 4, respectively.
Similarly, the battery for both laptops are rated at 57 Whr, with their screens measuring in at 14 inches. But for the specifics, the company only says that available options go up to a 2.8K OLED touch screen with up to 120Hz refresh rate. As a final note on these laptops, both the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 are WiFi 7 ready.
The company says that the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon will first be available in limited configurations starting December, with “an expected starting price” of US$2,989 (~RM13,954). The full catalogue will be available starting March. Similarly the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 will also be available starting March, with an expected starting price of US$2,639 (~RM12,320). No details on local pricing and availability, though these will likely only be available later.
