Ahead of the official availability of Intel’s 14th Gen Meteor Lake, ASUS announced its refreshed Zenbook 14 OLED. The refreshed thin and light laptop is one of the first in the brand’s lineup to be kitted out with the blue chipmaker’s latest AI-powered CPU.
Specs-wise, the new Zenbook 14 OLED can be powered with up to a Core Ultra 9 mobile processor, feature up to 32GB DDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. Of course, as this is a Meteor Lake-powered laptop, you can also expect the laptop to make full use of the suite of AI-based technologies, features, and functions that the new chipset has to offer
Additionally, you’ll also have access to an integrated ARC GPU that is only available via the new H-Series mobile CPUs. On that note, and given the configuration that ASUS is offering, it seems likely that the CPU that is inside this machine is an EVO Edition equivalent of the Core Ultra 9 185H – that CPU comes with 16-cores and 22-threads, the extra two cores in the formula being the new Low Power (LP) E-Cores, designed to take over the mundane tasks that were initially relegated to the original E-Cores, when they first made their debut with the 12th Gen Alder Lake series.
Getting back to the Zenbook 14 OLED, the outside of the laptop is also packed with a moderate number of I/O ports. By that, we are referring to the Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port, and a HDMI 2.1 port. Given that it’s a Zenbook, it looks as though charging will be conducted via one of the USB-C ports. That last point has an indirect benefit to the laptop as well: it is lightweight at just 1.2kg. On top of that, so long as you have a GAN charger with and output of 60W or greater, you are good to go.
The display of the Zenbook 14 OLED is a 3K resolution panel, with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. As the name implies, it is also an OLED panel but not just any OLED: it’s an ASUS Lumina panel, which has proven in the past to have some really deep and inky blacks and flashbang-going-off-in-your-face whites. Lastly, it’s got a much bigger battery inside of it at 75WHr. With that capacity, ASUS promises that it can give a user more than 15 hours of continuous use, before it begin calling out to a charging adapter.
At the time of writing, we still do not have local pricing or availability for the new Zenbook 14 OLED.
