Wireless earbuds design is pretty standardised these days, but every once in awhile something looking quite different pops up. One recent example is the Huawei FreeClip open-ear TWS buds, with what the company calls the C-bridge design.
Rather than plugging your ears, or simply hanging precariously outside your ear canal, the Huawei FreeClip uses the aforementioned C-bridge design to clip itself around your ear. The company claims to have deigned this based on over 10,000 ear data to ensure that they fit snugly rather than uncomfortably pinching on your ears. Each bud weighing in at 5.6g also helps on the comfort department.
The drivers of the Huawei FreeClip measures in at 10.8mm, with tech that the company claims directs sound directly into your ear canal to prevent leakage. But beyond that, one key advantage that this pair of TWS buds have over most personal audio products out there is their interchangeability. As in, each earbud detects which side of your head it ends up being on, and adjusts its output accordingly, freeing you from the need to check if you’ve left it out of the case for awhile.
For its battery life, the Huawei FreeClip has each but rated as lasting up to eight hours, or 36 hours with the charging case included in the equation. The buds themselves also comes with an IP54 rating, making them exercise friendly. All things considered, it’s probably a more sensible design compared to a prior attempt at open-ear personal audio.
Despite the announcement though, Huawei has not revealed the price of the FreeClip, or when exactly they will be available in the local market. Instead, when you visit the official product page, linked below, all you get on that front is a Notify Me button, and a placeholder price. We’ll probably just have to wait for the company to be ready to announce those details, whenever that may be.
