ASUS has recently shared a teaser featuring a first look of its latest flagship gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 8. Despite trying to hide most of its features with a darkened image, edited versions have revealed the device sporting a whole new rear panel design.
Based on what’s shown, the upcoming ASUS ROG Phone 8 (or a variation of it) will feature a minimalist look compared to its predecessors. Gone are the sci-fi inspired designs, which have been replaced with a two-tone silver finish and a pentagon-shaped camera island. The latter of which appears to sport a triple camera setup and an LED flash.

Also visible is a USB-C port mounted on the side, seemingly retaining the dual port design that the series have been featuring since its introduction. According to China’s 3C agency (via GSMArena), the ASUS ROG Phone 8 is expected to support 65W fast charging, which is pretty much the same as its preceding model.
Apart from that, ASUS had previously hinted that its upcoming gaming smartphone series will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship chipset, which comes as no surprise. Meanwhile, benchmark results on Geekbench (listed as ASUS_AI2401_D) reveal that the Ultimate variant of the device will feature a whopping 24GB of RAM. On that note, it is believed that the ROG Phone 8 will also be offered in a vanilla variant, though it is unclear how different its specifications may be when compared to the aforementioned high-end model.
ASUS’ next-gen gaming flagship smartphone series is teased to be “coming soon”, with no expected launch date mentioned. Seeing that the brand has already begun building hype for the line-up, it is very likely that it may debut sometime in early 2024.
