Tecno has revealed that it will be launching its new Spark 20 mid-range smartphone in Malaysia tomorrow. The device was recently unveiled in India last week, so we’ll be using the specifications listed for that market as reference. However, keep in mind that there’s a chance that its configurations could differ for the local release.
For starters, the new Tecno Spark 20 comes with a 6.6-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and HD+ (720 x 1612 px) resolution. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C connector, and Android 13 via the brand’s HiOS 13 platform. Apart from that, it has a water and dust resistance rating of IP53, and is available in four different colourways: Gravity Black, Cyber White, Neonn Gold, and Magic Skin 2.0 (Blue).
Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, along with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. As with most mid-range devices, the phone also features virtual RAM expansion up to an additional 8GB, while its storage capacity can be expanded via microSD. Meanwhile, powering the Spark 20 is a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
On the back of the phone is an iPhone Pro-like camera arrangement, but with only two shooters instead of three. Housed under the lenses is a 50MP primary sensor and a 0.08MP auxiliary camera, while a flash module occupies the third circle. In front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on the display is a 32MP selfie camera.
For those wondering, what sets this model apart from its sibling, the Spark 20C, is the chipset and storage size. More specifically, the latter comes with an entry-level Helio G36 SoC, while its storage capacity is only 128GB. Those aside, both phones share the same specs for cameras, RAM capacity, battery size and charging speed, as well as other features including Tecno’s own take on Dynamic Island, which is known as the Dynamic Port.
Despite being unveiled earlier in India, Tecno has yet to announce the Spark 20’s pricing and availability for the market. Based on our findings, some local retailers have already listed the phone with a starting price of RM499, though we’ll only find out whether this is actually accurate once the brand itself officially announces the local pricing tomorrow or at a later date.
