Logitech G unveiled the Astro A50 X Lightspeed wireless gaming headset. The headset is the 5th generation entry of the A50 Series comes with up-to-date features that the brand had initially introduced with Pro series, plus one exclusive feature that is only afforded to this headset.
“Over the last decade, the A50 has become an icon in gaming headsets due to its focus on gamer-centric design, premium sound, and superior comfort and durability,” Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G, says. “Our new A50 X elevates this beloved headset with an unmatched level of performance by combining the A50’s award-winning design with several new features and advanced technologies that truly revolutionize gameplay.”
What sets the A50 X apart from the competition and its predecessors is the new Playsync technology. More than just a charging platform for the headset, The Playsync is a base station that allows the headset to be connected to the Xbox Series X and S, PS5, and a PC or Mac all at once, with seamless switching between all consoles. All it takes to switch between them is a simple “one-click” button, located right in the earcup.
Internally, the A50 X has been outfitted with Logitech G’s new Pro-G Graphene drivers. As the name suggests, the drivers are 40mm graphene diaphragms, made with a live edge suspension, allowing it to deliver what the brand describes as “superior” audio performance and given the performance of the Pro X2 Lightspeed that we reviewed earlier in the year, we’re inclined to believe that this headset can and will deliver. After all, Logitech G also claims that the headset is capable of handling 24-bit audio without breaking a sweat.
For input, the A50 X has a full band, high resolution 48KHz microphone that is built directly into the side of the headset. On that note, it doesn’t look like the microphone is detachable but this is a full-spectrum gaming headset, so that’s not necessarily a deal breaker for many. Because of its wireless nature, you can also customise and control its functions via the G Hub on PC or the Logitech G app via Android or iOS.
The Logitech A50 X Lightspeed retails at US$379.99 (~RM1,774) and will be available globally sometime during the first half of next year. At the time of writing, local pricing is still not known
