OnePlus officially launched its self-titled flagship, the OnePlus 12, in China earlier today. The phone is the follow-up to the OnePlus 11 that launched at the start of this year.
As with all flagships, the OnePlus 12 is fitted with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, offering as much as 30% improvements in performance and approximately 10% better power efficiency. Other internal specifications include LPDDR5X RAM capacities of 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB, the last being one of the highest amount of memory to be doled out in a mobile phone. Storage capacities are just as generous as well, with the brand offering 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Oh, and the storage medium is UFS 4.0 too.
Moving on, the 6.8-inch display of the OnePlus 12 is an LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. As for its chassis, the phone looks nearly identical to the OnePlus 11, even down to the main camera housing. The brand calls this its TIME Design and that it is inspired by the same design philosophy that is seen in luxury watches.
Speaking of the main camera, OnePlus says that its 12th generation flagship uses a new and improved triple-camera module, supported by a 4th generation Hasselblad Camera for Mobile. Breaking it down further, the new camera comprises an LYT808 50MP Main that the brand is claiming as an industry-first and co-developed with Sony; a OV64B 64MP 3x periscope telephoto, and an IMX581 48MP ultrawide. All three, by the way, are accompanied by a new HDR algorithm that OnePlus says it developed in-house.
Lastly, powering the entirety of the OnePlus 12 is a massive 5,400mAh Li-Po battery, with support for 100W fast-charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
At the time of writing, there is still no official pricing for the OnePlus 12 outside of China. The phone is slated for availability in China from 11 December onwards, with global availability for the device starting “early next year”.
