In October, the Selangor state government announced the expansion of its Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) programme to several other areas in the state via its two partners, Mobi and Trek Rides. Now, the state has announced the integration of Trek’s service in its all-in-one app, Selangkah.
Through the integration, Selangkah users are now able to book Trek’s shuttle services within supported zones for first- and last-mile connectivity. Within a DRT, the van hailing service covers virtual pick-up and drop-off locations such as public transit stations, residential neighbourhoods, commercial areas, medical centres, schools, places of worship, and government offices.
Trek currently covers three zones, namely Bangsar, Puchong, and Ampang, with plans to expand to Hulu Kelang and Serdang starting from 20 January 2024. As for the fare, our testing showed that it costs RM1 per ride in Bangsar and RM2 for the other zones, with Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay, credit cards, and debit cards as payment methods.
Regarding the other van hailing app involved in the DRT programme, the state app’s representative told us that it currently has no plans to integrate Mobi’s services into the platform, oddly enough. Mobi currently covers Subang Jaya, parts of Puchong, and Bandar Utama, with plans to expand its coverage to Ara Damansara as well as Sungai Buloh next January.
