Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has finally announced the disbursement date for the RM100 e-wallet credit for adults earning RM100,000 or below yearly. Previously known as e-Tunai, the programme is now called eMadani and the redemption period for the credit will run from 4 December 2023 until 20 February 2024.
As previously mentioned, to be eligible for the programme, you must be a Malaysian adult earning RM100,000 per year or less, translating the cap to about RM8,333 per month. Anwar has previously stated that this will benefit about 10 million people in the country who fall under the income categories of B40 and M40, which is about half the adult Malaysian population. This means that it won’t only benefit low-income individuals but it will also reach the middle class.
There will be four e-wallet providers involved with the eMadani programme, which will become the distribution platforms for the RM100 worth of credits. Unfortunately, the Prime Minister has not yet revealed which providers will participate this time around, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out more.
Previous e-wallet providers for similar government e-wallet payouts include familiar names such as Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay, ShopeePay, BigPay, Boost, and Setel. As per usual, each provider will likely offer a set of deals for you to redeem the RM100 through their platform, so you should choose wisely by comparing the offers before making a decision.
