Ubisoft ended the past week on a very rough note, thanks to what it claims to be a “technical error” that caused dissatisfaction amongst players. While most likely unrelated, it seems that the French video game publisher is trying to make amends for this by offering one of its older Assassin’s Creed titles, more specifically Syndicate, available to all completely for free on PC until 6 December 2023.
However, there is a catch: This offer is only claimable via Ubisoft’s website (link below) or its official Connect app. This isn’t much of a problem for existing users, but those outside of the publisher’s ecosystem are first required to register a free account in order to add Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to their library. Moreover, you’ll also need the app itself installed on your PC in order to download and play the game.

For those unfamiliar, Syndicate is the ninth instalment of Ubisoft’s flagship Assassin’s Creed series which was initially released back in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game takes place in London during the Second Industrial Revolution in 1868, and allows players to control twin siblings: Jacob and Evie Frye. It is also notably the last mainline title to feature the series’ classic gameplay before making the shift to a more combat-focused approach in 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origin and its successors – with the exception of the recently released Mirage, of course.
It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has distributed Syndicate for free. Prior to this, the game was offered as part of Epic Games Store’s weekly free games selection back in 2020, along with other titles such as Faeria and Kingdom Come Deliverance. Needless to say, if you happen to miss the last one, this current giveaway is the perfect opportunity for you to add the 2015 Assassin’s Creed title to your PC gaming library at no cost.
