OnePlus today has officially unveiled its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, revealing its design, hero colourway, as well as some of its key features. The phone is scheduled to launch in China on 5 December 2023.
The all-new OnePlus 12 sports the brand’s signature design language that’s often repeated on its recent flagship releases. More specifically, found on its curved back is the familiar circular island that houses four cameras, while surrounding the phone itself is a metal frame. Apart from silver and matte black colourways, the upcoming phone will also feature a newly introduced hero colour dubbed as Flowy Emerald.
OnePlus notes that another significant change is the position of the alert slider, which has now been shifted to the left-hand side in order to accommodate a new integrated antenna. According to the company, internal testing has determined that the optimal position for gaming antennas is between the forefingers of the user when the phone is held in landscape orientation. The repositioning of the slider allowed OnePlus to deploy better antennas on its upcoming flagship, including Ultra-compact Full-band Antenna technology as well as an industry-first Alert Slider Antenna Integration technology.
Meanwhile, the imaging system will feature a 3x periscope telephoto camera that’s supported by a “4th gen Hasselblad Camera for Mobile”. On the unofficial side of things, Yahoo Tech HK claims that the OnePlus 12 will feature a new Sony LYT-808 50MP primary camera, while behind its telephoto lens an undisclosed 64MP sensor.
Apart from that, it’s been previously confirmed that the brand’s upcoming flagship smartphone will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Unfortunately, other specifications such as its display, memory configuration, battery and so on are still kept under wraps at this time.
Nevertheless, all of this and more will be revealed once the OnePlus 12 launches next month. As for its international debut, leakster Max Jambor claims that the company is aiming for it to take place sometime in January next year.
