We have already seen the iQOO 12 being listed in the SIRIM database, which indicates that it will be launching in the country soon. Sure enough, vivo Malaysia has sent out teasers for the launch of its gaming phone series, saying that it is coming soon, but stopped short of providing a specific date.
Also part of the iQOO 12 launch teaser was the claim that it will be the first phone in the country to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. No real surprise there, as the company already made the claim earlier in the month, when we got our hands on the phone for a short period of time.
In case you missed it, the other items on the iQOO 12 spec sheet include a 6.78-inch 2,800 x 1,260 display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery, with a charging rate of 120W. RAM and storage options were rated at 16GB and up to 1TB when it launched in its home market of China, but it remains to be seen which ones will be made available here. For cameras, it has a 50MP main + 64MP telephoto + 50MP wide angle setup at the back, and a 16MP shooter sitting in a punch-hole cutout in front
Once again, there is no mention of the iQOO 12 Pro in the launch teaser, which is one additional sign that we are only getting the base model. As mentioned, no specific dates were provided, but if we’re going by when the predecessor model was launched, chances are the current model will be announced sometime next month.
