Mobi, the van hailing app run by BadanBas Coach, stated that its Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) service is now available in Petaling Jaya North (Bandar Utama). This expansion rolled out on 20 November, meaning that the app now covers two areas in Selangor including Subang Jaya.
According to the company, its virtual stops are available every 200 metres in the area, covering residential areas, bus stops, malls, office buildings, and more. This is part of Selangor’s DRT expansion plan, where the state government recently-announced that the van hailing service will span across eight more zones aside from Puchong.
From the plan laid out by the state, the first phase of the expansion involves, Ampang, Subang Jaya, and Bandar Utama, which it said will be implemented in November. While Subang and Bandar Utama are now covered, neither of the apps involved with the programme — Mobi and Trekrides — have made any announcement regarding Ampang.
However, Mobi stated that in January 2024, it will be expanding its coverage to Ara Damansara as well as Sungai Buloh. The second phase was said to include four more zones by July 2024, so with those two areas now revealed, there are two zones left that have yet to be announced. On a related note, Mobi said that it has updated its operating hours; it now operates from Monday to Sunday from 7 AM to 9 PM.
