A couple of months ago, Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 V, the fifth generation of the phone. Now the brand has listed the device on its website without much fanfare, offering a significant amount of rewards for those who buy it by the end of the year.
To recap, the Xperia 5 V sports a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate as well as Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IP 68 dust and water resistance rating for protection. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and comes in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although the latter can be expanded with a microSD card.
Unlike the more expensive flagship phone, the phone only gets two sensors on the back comprised of a 48MP main camera with OIS and three focal lengths along with a 12MP ultra-wide lens, while the front houses a 12MP selfie shooter. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging. Additionally, there is support for wireless and reverse wireless charging, although the charging speeds have not been disclosed.
The Xperia 5 V is available in black on the brand’s online store for RM4,999. For early birds who purchase the phone between now and 31 December, you will get a RM50 credit for Touch n’ Go eWallet as well as the WF-1000XM5 earbuds.
