There have been many prior reports claiming iPad refreshes this year, though so far it looks like none of them have come to pass. Equally unlikely now is the possibility of an iPad mini 7, which had a Q4 announcement window. A new report now suggests that, besides the iPad Pro line which will be refreshed next year, it will be awhile before the other tablet models get the same treatment.
Korean outlet ETNews reports that the rest of the iPad lineup will be getting OLED screens just like the Pro models coming next year. Though beyond said Pro versions, the next in line will only be showing up in 2026. These would be new iPad Air and mini models. Worth noting that the latter would also be getting a slight upsizing, with its current 8.3-inch display getting bumped to 8.7 inches. For now, it’s way too early to tell if this is a result of bezel reduction or otherwise.
On the subject of size, the report claims that in 2027, Apple will release another larger iPad Air model. Unlike the current one and its supposed 2026 replacement, which has a 10.9-inch screen size, this larger model measures in at 12.9 inches. This would just about mirror the choices that customers currently have with the Pro models, which come in a choice of 11 and 12.9 inches.
Also mentioned in the report are refreshes to the MacBook Pro lineup, which will also be getting OLED upgrades from its current mini LED screens. The 16-inch model would be getting the upgrade first in 2025, with the 13- and 14-inch models getting bumped up in 2026 instead.
As all the above are about plans spanning multiple years, it’s probably best to not hold your breaths for them. Even if these claims are accurate at the moment, there’s plenty of time for the fruit company to change their minds in between.
