Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has introduced the first member of the Redmi 13 series, the successor to its entry-level smartphone line-up from last year. This time around, it appears that the brand is debuting each family member from the bottom up, starting with the more affordable Redmi 13C model.
While it is marketed as a separate product, the newly launched phone is actually a rebadged POCO C65 in most aspects. Also featured on the Redmi 13C is a 6.74-inch LCD display with 1600 x 720 px resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and water-drop notch, as well as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a dual SIM + microSD slot, loudspeaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Likewise, under its hood is the same MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, but with a smaller RAM count of 6GB and an internal storage capacity of 128GB. As with most entry and mid-range devices, the Redmi 13C also comes with a built-in tool that lets you add up to 6GB RAM via virtual memory conversion. Besides that, it also has Android 13 via MIUI 14, a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging via USB-C, as well as dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
Perhaps the only obvious difference that sets the Redmi 13C apart from the POCO C65 is the design of its rear plate. Unlike its cousin, the phone sports a square-shaped island for its triple-camera setup, while its colourways include Midnight Black, Navy Blue, Glacier White and Clover Green. Back to its imaging system, helming the trio is a 50MP primary shooter, along with a 2MP macro and a depth sensor. Meanwhile, housed within the water-drop notch on its display is an 8MP selfie camera.
The Redmi 13C is now available in Malaysia at RM499. Those interested to pick up the new entry-level smartphone may do so via all authorised Xiaomi stores and other official retailers nationwide, as well as the brand’s official online stores on Shopee and Lazada.
