Taking the stage ahead of the vivo X100 series of phones earlier was the vivo Watch 3, replacing its predecessor from 2021. Nothing too revolutionary here, but it does come with a few incremental improvements over recently released smartwatches of its price bracket.
Starting with the basics, we’re looking at a1.43-inch 466 x 466 screen with an always-on-display mode. The battery is rated at 505mAh, but the company claims that this lets the vivo Watch 3 last for 16 days on a single charge.
While the watch itself comes with one look, the company says you can make it look more business-like or sporty by swapping out its straps. When you do, the vivo Watch 3 will suggest watch faces for you to change to depending on the type of strap you’ve just attached.
The company also explains that there are two primary reasons why people don’t wear smartwatches to sleep, even when many of them have sleep tracking capabilities. One is weight, which is why the vivo Wacht 3 weighs in at 36g. Another reason is that people may be woken up by the light involved in the health monitoring process, which the company says that its latest smartwatch now uses invisible light to negate this issue.
Beyond that, the vivo Watch 3 does the usual smartwatch things like tracking 100 different activities as well as the aforementioned sleep tracking. It also includes some more recent features in the realm of smartwatches like NFC car keys, as well as storing cards for electronic payments.
There are two main variants of the vivo Watch 3, one of which features only Bluetooth, while another can house an eSIM. The former has its prices start from RMB1,099 (~RM710), while the latter has a starting asking price of RMB1,299 (~RM839). No word on local pricing and availability, though with the brand having never brought its smartwatches to our shores, this one’s local availability also looks pretty unlikely.
