vivo sub–brand iQOO has recently launched its next-gen flagship smartphone series in China, which consists of two models: the iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro. Both are equipped with Qualcomm’s latest high-end chipset, while also sharing the same sleek and stylish design language.
What sets the Pro model apart from its sibling is the 6.78–inch E7 AMOLED curved display, which offers a resolution of 1440 x 3200px, 144Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. It is available in three colour options: a black version with fluorite AG glass back, a red variant with vegan leather finish, and a BMW Motorsport edition with a porcelain white rear case.
As mentioned earlier, the iQOO 12 Pro is equipped with the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, along with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Also onboard is a self-developed Q1 chip which enables for consistent 144Hz 1080p gaming, as well as provide other performance enhancements such as low latency frame insertion, superframe, and super-resolution supersampling. Keeping the phone’s temperature in check is a built-in 5,705mm² vapor chamber for heat dissipation.
The Pro’s battery has a 5,100mAh capacity, along with 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support. Besides that, it also comes with Android 14 via vivo’s new OriginOS 4, stereo speakers, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC wireless connectivity.
Imaging–wise, housed within the phone’s large camera island is a triple shooter setup helmed by a 50MP OmniVision OV50H sensor with OIS, a 64MP telephoto with zooming ranges up to 3x optical, up to 10x hybrid and up to 100x digital, as well as a 50MP ultra-wide with macro. Meanwhile, housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display is a 16MP selfie camera.
Next up is the vanilla iQOO 12, which features a flat display and a flat rear case. The former also features a 6.78-inch E7 AMOLED panel, but with a lower resolution of 2800 x 1260px. Everything else offered by the phone is exactly the same as its Pro sibling, save for its battery specifications. Depending on the variant, the standard model comes with either a 5,000mAh or a 4,880mAh battery with 120W fast charging through USB-C only.
In China, the iQOO 12 series are slated to go on sale on 14 November 2023, with the Pro variant starting from CNY4,999 (~RM3,215) while the vanilla model starts from CNY3,999 (~RM2,572). There’s no word on the duo’s availability for other markets just yet.
