Sony will be launching yet another Alpha camera soon this year. According to a teaser released by the company yesterday, the event will happen tomorrow on 7 November 2023 and will be streamed live via the official Alpha Universe website as well as social media channels.
The identity of the upcoming product is still a mystery for now, though it is believed that Sony may debut the successor to its four-year-old A9 II full-frame mirrorless camera. For the uninitiated, this particular series represents the Japanese brand’s flagship sports camera line-up, featuring high-speed continuous shooting and wide autofocus coverage. Naturally, a next-gen entry is expected to feature numerous upgrades in hardware and features, especially in order to keep up with competing devices such as the Nikon Z9 and so on.
Other plausible candidates include successors to Sony’s A7S or even its ZV series. The former represents the brand’s flagship video-oriented camera line-up which last saw its most recent entry back in 2020 with the A7S III model, whereas the latter is part of its vlogging-centric shooters. Of the two, the ZV may be the most unlikely as the series had only recently seen a new entry earlier this year, though chances of a variant to be introduced tomorrow is still probable.
As mentioned earlier, the upcoming Sony Alpha event is slated to happen tomorrow on Tuesday, 7 November 2023. Those who wish to tune in may do so by viewing the live stream via the official Alpha Universe website or its social media channels at 10pm local time.
