Tecno has added a new entry-level smartphone to its lineup, the Pop 8. The successor to the Pop 7, the budget device will reportedly come with a staggeringly low price tag while offering some interesting design choices and acceptable specs, considering its price point.
The Pop 8 sports a 6.6-inch 720p LCD display with a “Dynamic Port”, which, as you can guess, is the brand’s in-house software that’s similar to Apple’s divisive feature to make the camera notch interactive. For internals, it runs on the Unisoc T606 chipset paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, as well as a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
On the back, you’ll find a 13MP primary sensor as well as an “AI camera”, while the front boasts an 8MP selfie shooter. Surprisingly, despite being an entry-level phone, the Pop 8 has a USB-C port instead of a micro USB port, although it still only supports 10W charging for the 5,000mAh battery. There is even a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The Pop 8 is offered in four official colour options with the green version featuring a fake leather back panel. As of now, the company has yet to reveal the pricing and availability of the phone, but leaks have claimed that it will retail from only INR7,000 (~RM400) in India.
