Amazfit has recently unveiled the Active and Active Edge smartwatches for the US market. The former features a traditional square case design, while the latter offers a more rugged look that’s suitable for outdoor activities or sports. Between the two, so far only the Amazfit Active has been confirmed coming to Malaysia by early November this year.
The base Active variant features a square 1.75-inch AMOLED display with 390 x 450px resolution, along with either aluminium alloy or stainless steel case options with 5 ATM water resistance. Amazfit is offering this model in Midnight Black, Petal Pink or Lavender Purple colour options, as well as a choice between silicone or vegan leather straps.
Additionally, the watch comes with the brand’s BioTracker PPG biometric sensor with heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep and stress tracking capabilities, Bluetooth 5.2 BLE, as well as built-in GNSS with support for GPS, QZSS, BEIDOU, GALILEO and GLONASS satellite-based positioning. Running it is Amazfit’s Zepp OS interface, which features numerous built-in health, fitness, workout and other typical smartwatch tools. It also comes with 250MB storage capacity for music storage and so on.
Meanwhile, powering the Amazfit Active is a 300mAh battery. With this, the company claims that the watch is capable of providing 14 days of regular use and 16 hours with continuous GPS usage.
The next product iis the Amazfit Active Edge, which offers a circular 1.32-inch TFT LCD display with 360 x 360px resolution. Surrounding it is a rugged, reinforced polycarbonate shell with four physical buttons and 10ATM water resistance. This particular model is available in three colour options: Lava Black, Midnight Pulse and Mint Green.
The watch’s internal specifications and built-in features are exactly the same as the base model, but with some exceptions. One of which is its Bluetooth connectivity which supports 5.0 BLE instead, while the other being its larger 370mAh battery that provides up to 16 days with normal use and up to 20 hours on GPS.
In the US, the new Amazfit Active retails at US$150 (~RM716) for the Midnight Black and Petal Pink options, and US$160 for the Lavender Purple. Meanwhile, the Active Edge is priced at US$140 (~RM669) for the Midnight Pulse and Mint Green colour option, while the Lava Black option is at US$150 (~RM716).
As mentioned earlier, Amazfit has teased that the base Active model is set to launch in Malaysia on 3 November 2023. It is not known whether the Active Edge will also debut alongside its sibling.
