Earlier this month, Samsung announced the Galaxy SmartTag2, the successor to its original SmartTag that comes with a complete redesign as well as new features and massive improvements. Now, the brand has quietly revealed the price tag of the new device on its Malaysian website, making it available for purchase.
To start with, the smart tag is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 and support for ultra-wideband (UWB) with select Galaxy smartphones, giving it a range of up to 120 metres. It is capable of precision tracking that shows the distance and direction of the tracker and it comes with a new Lost Mode, which allows anyone with an NFC-enabled device to tap and view your contact info and a message.
Notably, the battery life of the tag has been significantly increased to 500 days using a replaceable CR2032 battery. Adding on to that, the usage can be extended up to a whopping 700 days when Power Saving Mode is activated. It also gets a button to control IoT devices registered with SmartThings and it has IP57 dust and water resistance.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 retails for RM149 each on the company’s website and is available in black and white options. Cases are sold separately with the rugged case going for RM59 while the pricing for the silicone case is still unknown.
