DJI has finally announced the Osmo Pocket 3, the next-gen entry to its compact gimbal camera product line. While its design is no surprise for many due to the numerous leaks that was shared prior to its official unveiling, the official launch still provided significant insight in regards to the product’s specifications and features. And for those who’ve been patiently waiting for an update for the past three years, you’ll be glad to know that the company is not pulling any punches for this release.
For starters, the new DJI Osmo Pocket 3 more or less shares the same size and form factor as its predecessor. The only differences being the addition of a 2-inch rotatable touchscreen that allows for both horizontal and vertical shooting, as well as the repositioning of the thumbstick and record button to the bottom half of its grip. DJI says the new display offers a resolution of 314×556 pixels and a peak brightness of 700 nits.
Additionally, gone are the swappable controls gimmick though this is likely something that no one would actually miss. And as with its predecessor, you are given the option to add different attachments to the bottom of the device. So far, the company has unveiled two handles that feature a 1/4 thread and an extra battery capacity. The former is included with all Osmo Pocket 3 configurations, while the latter comes bundled as part of the Creator Combo and can also be bought separately.
Found on top of the device is an all-new 1-inch CMOS camera that’s mounted on the familiar three-axis stabiliser. According to DJI, it is capable of capturing photos up to 3840×2160 pixels resolution and video recordings at up to 4K/120p, which is a vast improvement over its three-year-old predecessor. Also onboard is a three-mic array that reduces wind noise and captures omnidirectional stereo sound.
Features-wise, the Osmo Pocket 3 offers enhanced low-light performance, 4x digital zoom, Full-Pixel Fast Focusing, 1080p live streaming, D-LogM 10–bit support, ActiveTrack 6.0 with Face Auto-Detect and Dynamic Framing, as well as a new Product Showcase mode. Classic tools such as SpinShot, Motion Lapse and Panorama also make a return.
In terms of battery, DJI notes that the device comes with a 1,300mAh capacity with 65W fast charging support. According to the company, an 80% charge can be achieved in just 16 minutes via a compatible charger, while a full top-up will only take 32 minutes.
The new DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is available to order from the brand’s Experience Stores, as well as its official online stores on Shopee and Lazada starting today. On its own, the camera gimbal is priced at RM2,299 and comes with a Type-C to Type-C PD cable, protective cover, wrist strap and a 1/4 thread handle. The Creator Combo, on the other hand, is priced at RM2,959 and includes the Pocket 3, all of the aforementioned accessories, along with a DJI Mic 2 Transmitter with compatible windscreen and clip magnet, as well as a battery handle, mini tripod and carrying bag.
