Garmin today has unveiled the all-new Tactix 7 AMOLED Edition for the Malaysian market. Like the Pro variant that was launched back in May, the latest entry member of the family is also equipped with a rugged exterior as well as numerous military-esque features, on top of your typical smartwatch and health-based functions. However, the wearable does come with newer tricks that are so far unique to it.
Obviously, what sets this Tactix 7 variant apart from its sibling is, as implied by its name, the new 1.4-inch AMOLED display. Garmin boasts that the screen has sufficient brightness to be read under harsh sunlight, and can also be tuned down to just a single nit in the event that you want to go all stealthy.
Meanwhile, the watch itself is built to MIL-STD-810 specifications for durability, thanks to its fibre-reinforced polymer case and titanium rear cover, as well as a sapphire crystal lens that protects the AMOLED display. In essence, it is designed to resist thermal, shock and water, with the latter rated at 10-ATM. Also onboard is a new night vision compatible flashlight which can omit white or green light.
As for new features, Garmin says included on the Tactix 7 AMOLED Edition is an improved Red Shift Mode that shifts the entire interface to shades of red to help preserve night vision. It also comes with enhanced optical sensors and specific algorithms, which offer improved performance tracking for a wider variety of activities.
Speaking of health and fitness-based functions, found onboard the new wearable are several familiar Garmin tools including Pulse Ox, heart rate detection, respiration and stress tracking, Body Battery, Fitness Age, Morning Report, Advanced Sleep Monitoring and so on. Of course, also not forgetting the included multi-band GPS support, as well as the preloaded TopoActive, Public Land Boundaries and SkiView maps and more.
In terms of battery, Garmin says the Tactix 7 AMOLED Edition is capable of lasting up to 31 days in smartwatch mode, up to 41 days on Battery Saver mode, and up to 82 hours on GPS only. Meanwhile, included together with the wearable is a proprietary Garmin plug charger.
The new Garmin Tactix 7 AMOLED Edition is available now for RM6,930. Those interested can purchase the wearable through the brand’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada and AECO e-store, as well as its physical brand stores and authorised retailers nationwide.
