Official renders of the self-titled Xiaomi 14 Series have made their way online. The posters and renders of the phone, leaked by Cici Lao Wei, product manager at Xiaomi, and Lei Jun, co-founder of Xiaomi, effectively give us a glimpse of the brand’s upcoming smartphone series and it’s hard not to draw comparisons between it and Apple’s iPhone 15 Series.
In terms of specs, the Xiaomi 14 reportedly sports a 6.36-inch display with some really ultra-narrow bezels, even more so than even the most premium iPhone 15. On that note, the phone appears to mimic much of the design of the fruit company’s phone design, the only discerning point of design being its selfie camera and main camera module design at the rear.
“Our engineering team took a novel approach to design. They concealed the infrared sensor in the back camera area, transformed the speaker opening into a micro-seam hidden design, and discreetly placed the top microphone in the earpiece area.” Lei Jun says. “This meticulous design showcases Xiaomi’s commitment to crafting a device that is not only beautiful but also highly functional.”
Supposedly, the Xiaomi 14 series will be available in two flavours: a standard 14 and 14 Pro. Additionally, both phones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3, and surprisingly, not the new X Elite that was leaked at the start of the week. Other specifications indicate that the Pro version of the series may have a variant that includes 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage.
Continuing its partnership with Leica, the Xiaomi 14 Series and its main camera modules will be bear the name of the camera brand, as well as carry the relevant imaging technology that makes. And while there are no further details about the phone, we do at least know that the Pro model may feature a quad-camera setup, based on the leaked renders.
We also may not have to wait too long to hear more about the Xiaomi 14 Series; the brand will reportedly make an official announcement for it on 26 October, which is just a couple of days away.
