Last week, rumours sprouted that NVIDIA was reportedly working on not one, but three Super variants of its currently existing RTX 40 Series graphics cards, with an RTX 4080 Super being one of them. Recently, another leak and whisper online is suggesting that said card could offer as much as 20GB GDDR6X of graphics memory.
The alleged information comes by way of a relatively reputable hardware leakster, Benchlife, who insists that they acquired the information on the RTX 4080 Super directly from board partners. To be fair, the source didn’t exactly label the refreshed RTX 4080 variant with the “Super” label, which means that it could simply be another version of the already existing card. Well, in theory at least.
And RTX 4070 Super looks like a RTX 4070 Ti with a little bit cutting.

That being said, there are some signs that indicate that this could be an RTX 4080 Super: going from 16GB to a 20GB configuration means that the GPU will require a much broader bandwidth, meaning the alleged Super card’s memory bus may increase from 256-bit to 320-bit. Further, the GPU architecture may change as well, from the AD103 currently in use, to the beefier AD102 in the RTX 4090. Also, at 20GB, that the same amount of graphics memory as AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT.
On another note, leaskter kopite7kimi shared differing opinions about Benchlife’s claims on the RTX 4080 Super, as well as the RTX 4070 Super. According to them, the relationship between the Super and non-Super variant of the RTX 4080 would be similar to that between the RTX 2080 and 2080 Super when they launched, meaning that the upcoming card may simply receive minor upgrades to its performance. Likewise, the 4070 Super is expected to be a slightly reduced variant of the 4070 Ti but still slightly more powerful and that non-Ti version of the GPU.
I have some different opinions.
I think the relationship between RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4080 is similar to that between RTX 2080 Super and RTX 2080. https://t.co/LJqKZRISta— kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi) October 23, 2023
In any case, these are all merely unconfirmed rumours and as always with these things, we do recommend that you treat them with some level of skepticism, until NVIDIA makes an official announcement anyway.
