Microsoft first revealed its Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Surface Laptop Go 3 last month. At the time, there were already signs that the duo would be making their way to the local market in due time. That has happened today, as Microsoft Malaysia announces that they can both now be pre-ordered.
Unlike when it was first revealed though, there are no choices when it comes to graphical options for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 locally. This is because only two configurations of the convertible are making their way here, and they both run an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. We are also not getting the top end of things when it comes to storage and RAM, as the configurations that are landing on our shores are the 16GB + 512GB and 32GB + 1TB variants only.
Beyond these, the other items on the spec sheet of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 look to be consistent to what was revealed before. This includes the 14.4-inch 3:2 2,400 x 1,600 touch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Ditto the 13th Gen Intel Core i7 13700H processor. Since there are no Iris Xe models here, battery life is rated at up to 18 hours.
As for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3, the two configurations that we saw before are the same two that the local market is getting. Which means a 12.4-inch 1,536 x 1,024 3:2 touch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor with Iris Xe graphics. Storage comes in SSD form offering 256GB of space, and with 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and battery life is rated at up to 15 hours.
For their prices, the 16GB +512GB model of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is priced at RM12,199, while the 32GB + 1TB configuration has a RM14,399 price tag. As for the Surface Laptop Go 3, its prices are RM4,099 and RM5,199 for the 8GB and 16GB RAM models, respectively. They can all be pre-ordered via Microsoft authorised retailers, though the company notes that beyond the most affordable model, the other three will be exclusive to Harvey Norman. They will be generally available starting 9 November.
