The redesigned PS5 console, which everyone seems to insist on calling the Slim colloquially, was officially unveiled last month. At the time, there were no local pricing details for the console. That has changed recently, with the company revealing its price for the Southeast Asia region, which naturally includes the local market.
Starting with the good news, the redesigned PS5 retains the same price as their earlier counterparts post price hike. This means RM2,069 for the Digital Edition, and RM2,499 for the standard edition with the optical drive. But said drive, if you wish to purchase it separately, does cost RM529. Which means that it would be more expensive to buy the Digital Edition, and later change you mind by getting the detachable optical drive separately.
On the flip side, the bad news is that the vertical stand is indeed an optional extra now, which costs RM149. In its place within the retail packaging of the redesigned PS5 is the horizontal stand, which we still dont have a proper look at up until this point.
And when it rains, it pours, because despite releasing the pricing information in a separate blog post for the region, there’s still no mention of its availability of these redesigned PS5 consoles outside of the US. In fact, the post still mentions the US getting it starting in November, with a global rollout in the following months. Ditto the prices of the new four-part console covers, which still do not yet have their local prices.
