CelcomDigi and TIME today have jointly announced a new partnership which aims to provide more home fibre connectivity options across the country, enabling convergence for both Celcom and Digi subscribers. Primarily, this collaboration allows the former to leverage on the latter’s infrastructure to extend its fibre broadband offerings to customers residing in high rise locations, allowing for uninterrupted high-speed internet access.
More specifically, CelcomDigi said customers who are located in supported condominiums and apartments will be able to experience fast broadband connectivity of up to 1Gbps as well as high upload speeds via TIME’s symmetric downlink and uplink offerings, while fibre installation will be faster. The former added that this collaboration also enables it to quickly roll out internet services in a more cost-efficient manner, in line with Malaysia’s digital aspirations.
In the shared statement, CelcomDigi deputy CEO Albern Murty said the collaboration with TIME is a strong start for the company to expand its connectivity footprint as well as provide its customers with affordable convergence solutions for their internet and lifestyle needs. He added that more future initiatives from this partnership will be coming in the future.
Meanwhile, TIME executive director Datuk Zainal Amanshah revealed the company is happy to support CelcomDigi in delivering fast, consistent internet connectivity to its customers. He also believes that faster speeds should be made available to as many Malaysians as possible, adding that TIME will continue to expand its coverage across the country to that end.
On a related note, CelcomDigi announced a price revision for its home fibre plans last week, which now starts at RM99 per month for its 100Mbps line. The move is in line with Comms Minister Fahmi Fadzil’s promise to lower fibre broadband prices in order to allow more Malaysians, especially those from the B40 category, to enjoy fast internet connectivity. Meanwhile, two of the company’s closest competitors, TM and Maxis, have begun rolling out revised fibre pricing as well, though the latter actually has yet to officially announce its plans.
