Back in September, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that Apple might not be done introducing new products for the year just yet. Now, new reports are claiming that we may see new launches as soon as tomorrow, on 17 October 2023. According to web publications Supercharged and 9to5Mac, expected are the company’s next-generation iPad Air, iPad mini and standard iPad models.
Both sources believe that the new Apple tablets will be equipped with updated chips, whilst retaining their respective designs from the previous generation. The iPad Air is expected to feature the company’s M2 silicon, whereas the iPad mini could sport the A16 Bionic instead. The latter is also said to feature a new display controller to mitigate the impact of the “jelly scrolling” issue that’s present on the current generation model.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear which chip the next-gen base iPad will come with, though it is plausible that it may feature the A16 Bionic as well. It is worth noting that the current model is still equipped with the older A14 Bionic, so it’s about high time for an upgrade to be introduced.
As for the iPad Pro models, the reports note that Apple will not introduce newer updates just yet. Instead, it is believed that the next-generation entries will only debut next year, though no exact dates were given. Prior rumours have suggested that both models will feature OLED displays for the first time, allowing for new capabilities such as Always On and Standby which are also offered by the brand’s last and current generation iPhones.
