HONOR has launched its second book-styled foldable smartphone of the year in China with the all-new Magic Vs2. Thanks to its newly-developed Luban titanium hinge, the device arrives lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, though it is still slightly thicker than the brand’s Magic V2 model, which still holds the title of being the thinnest foldable smartphone at only 9.9mm in its closed form.
According to HONOR, the newer Magic Vs2 weighs in at only 229 grams, while its thickness measures at 10.7mm in its folded state and just 5.1mm when unfolded. In terms of dimensions, the phone comes in at 157.5 x 74.4 x 10.7 mm and 157.5 x 146.2 x 5.1 mm respectively.
For display, equipped on the new HONOR foldable is a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED cover screen with 1060 x 2376 pixel resolution, adaptive refresh rate at up to 120Hz, and 2,500-nit peak brightness. Meanwhile, on the inside is a wider 7.9-inch LTPO OLED display with 2156 x 2344 pixel resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. Both panels on the phone also support HDR10+ and HONOR’s stylus accessory that’s sold separately.
Under the hood, the Magic Vs2 features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset, which is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Besides that, it also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual speakers, three built-in microphones, Android 13 via MagicOS 7.2, and a 5,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging via USB-C. Connectivity-wise, the device supports 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
For photography, found on the back of the foldable smartphone is a triple camera setup which consists of a 50MP primary sensor, a 20MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultra-wide. Meanwhile, featured on both of its displays is a 16MP selfie camera that’s housed within a punch-hole cutout.
The HONOR Vs2 is available in Velvet Black, Glacier Blue and Coral Purple colour options. For the Chinese market, the phone is slated to go on sale from 17 October 2023 onwards starting at CNY6,999 (~RM4,531) for the 12GB + 256GB trim and maxes out at CNY7,699 (~RM4985) for the 16GB + 512GB. There’s no word on the new HONOR foldable’s availability in Malaysia just yet.
