On Monday, we discovered that at least one of Maxis’ authorised dealers have listed new prices for all of the telco’s fibre plans, seemingly as an answer to TM’s own revision from the week prior. Since we’ve not received a reply from the green telco regarding the matter, we’ve decided to drop by its closest customer service centre to get more information. Fortunately, the Maxis Concept Store at The Gardens Mall KL has provided us with some fresh details which we can share with you.
According to the staff, the telco has indeed begun offering its fibre plans at revised prices, though there is a catch. They explained that the new pricing is part of a special promotion targeted towards new customers for now, and is only available to those who apply via walk-in at Maxis stores or service centres nationwide. Interestingly, staffers noted that there is no set duration for this promotion.
Meanwhile, it is revealed that the new prices are exactly as listed by the authorised reseller earlier this week; where the 100Mbps is now offered at RM89 per month, 300Mbps at RM129/month, 500Mbps at RM149/month, and 800Mbps at RM249/month. Do keep in mind that these already have the 24-month RM10 rebate applied, hence appearing cheaper than the competition.
Weirdly enough, the 30Mbps plan is still being offered to customers despite sharing the same price as the 100Mbps. It is unclear why Maxis decided to keep this, as we are told that an immediate upgrade to the latter will be granted regardless to those who apply for the option.
Speaking of upgrades, the staff also said that there are currently no plans to increase the internet speeds for existing customers just yet, which is unfortunate. But given the fact that TM is already doing this for its own users, it is very unlikely for Maxis to not follow suit.
Whatever the case, we’ll only know for sure once the telco itself is finally ready to spill the beans. As to when that may be, that is still anyone’s guess for now.
