Chinese electronics company TCL previously announced that it is bringing two of its phones to our shores. These are the TCL 40 NXTPAPER and 40 NXTPAPER 5G. As promised, both devices have made landfall, alongside the strange differences between them despite the similar name.
Starting with the former, the TCL 40 NXTPAPER comes with 6.78-inch Full HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space. That last one can be expanded via microSD by up to 2TB. It’s battery is rated at 5,010mAh, with a charging rate of 33W via USB-C.
Its main camera setup consists of a 50MP main + 5MP wide angle+ 2MP macro shooters. In front, it has a 32MP unit sitting in a punch hole cutout. Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, face unlocking, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
As for the TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G, some concessions were made to accommodate the new cellular tech. This includes a 6.6-inch HD+ display, and RAM is down to 6GB. Making 5G connectivity possible is its MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset. Storage space is still 256GB, but expanded storage is now capped at 1TB.
For its cameras, it sports a 50MP main + 2MP depth sensor + 2MP macro shooter combo. In front, it has an 8Mp shooter in a water drop notch. Other features remain consistent, meaning it keeps the 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, face unlocking and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The TCL 40 NXTPAPER is priced at RM899, while the 40 NXTPAPER 5G has a RM999 price tag. Both are immediately available via the brand’s dealer stores, as well as it’s official store on Lazada and Shopee.
