ACO Tech today announced that its ATLAS infotainment head unit (IHU) for Proton cars will integrate Sarawak’s Pay & Go parking payment solution starting today. According to the former’s press statement, its partnership with the latter was formalised via a Product Integration Agreement (PIA) and aims to enhance user convenience and elevate driving experience.
With Pay & Go’s integration, owners of ATLAS supported Proton vehicles in Sarawak will be able to make parking payments directly in-car with just a tap on the display, saving them the trouble of using physical parking tickets or reaching for a mobile phone. ACO Tech says the system’s app will first roll out to the Proton X70 model and will eventually be made available to other vehicles from the local automaker via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, starting with the X-series.
For those unfamiliar, Pay & Go utilises licence plate recognition technology to eliminate the need for autopay machines. Users are first required to save their number plates in their Pay & Go account and purchase in-app credits which serves as currency for parking payment. The latter can be bought directly from the ATLAS IHU through various online payment approaches, including Sarawak’s own S Pay Global platform. ACO Tech adds the Pay & Go app will eventually support its ATLAS Pay e-wallet accounts as well via a future update.
Interestingly, the same press statement also revealed that Pay & Go’s parking payment solution will be expanded to more areas, including in the Klang Valley. However, it’s not known when the operator is expected to commence this wider rollout. For now, Pay & Go is available in 28 locations primarily in Sarawak’s capital city Kuching.
It is also worth noting that prior to this, ACO Tech had also signed a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) with HeiTech Padu back in May, which will see an integration of the latter’s Smart Parking app on the ATLAS IHU in the near future. However, there is no update on the development of this particular partnership just yet.
